Summer Wind

I have been enjoying the summer months by returning to my great hometown of Saugatuck. Saugatuck is an incredibly small town in West Michigan which I grew sick of it for a while but as I have grown and matured I have learned to appreciate it for what it is. Saugatuck is a tourist town and a lot more popular than it used to be. I started bartending five years ago and the town is no longer a hidden gem as I struggle to walk at a normal pace on the sidewalk.

When it comes to art, I had to take a break for a while. I found myself putting too much pressure on myself to be better and my art took a hit. I decided to jump into watercolor and drawing again as it is a lot easier to start than acrylic or oil. Sometimes I feel like we need to get out of our comfort zone just to return to it.

I recently changed my username on Instagram to SamBeckmanArt. It is a lot more boring than Funkadelicoffeehouse but when it comes to social media, I think that it would be good to be more direct for accessibility and visibility purposes. Funkadelicoffehouse is my dream and it always will be. It is also the domain of this website and I wouldn’t change a thing.

In the future, I hope to have some graphic design work uploaded on the website along with more paintings. I am taking commissions at the moment and would love to do any kind of work! Make sure you follow @SamBeckmanArt and have a great day/week!- SPB
